Baby Steps – Master List

My son crawls like a fiend!!  It’s what he knows.  It’s what he’s good at.  Confident in everything, the child can get into anything!

But, when you put him on his own two feet, he wobbles, he fights to sit back down.

He’s scared.

But, he’ll cautiously pull himself up on the furniture and cruise along with ease, though he’s still a little afraid.  Always keeping a hand on the furniture at all times.

This is very similar to your journey to Crunchiness! <—we need to write a “What is Crunchy?” post.

You would rather crawl, as it were, do what you’ve always done.  Why?  Because you’re good at it, and it’s easier!  You may feel like you’re striking out alone.  We’re here to alleviate that loneliness that can come with changing your entire life a little bit at a time when everyone around you is doing something else.

You won’t be standing on your own two feet right out the gate.  You need someone to help you up, and you need someone’s hand to hold for a while.  But eventually, you’ll be gliding through this stuff!  You’ll have resources at your fingertips, you’ll realize you’re not alone, and you’ll understand that you can do this!

When I first started, I was overwhelmed.  I felt like I didn’t know where to start.  But my Sissy was there, encouraging me, cheering me on!  I still look to her for guidance, and I respect her opinions more highly than any other resource I’ve ever come across.

When she first started, she was overwhelmed.  And she didn’t have someone blazing the trail for her!  So she had to scour the internet, books, and find any and all resources she could get her hands on.

Now, I’m not saying that once you get your feet wet, you’ll never get overwhelmed again.  But eventually you develop resources and methods to help alleviate that anxiety.

So enough philosophy from me!  Here are some baby steps to help get you started!!  We’ll try to organize them from least intimidating/difficult to the more difficult ones.  Eventually, we’re hoping to have tutorials for each of these things as applies!!

Our advice to you, pick out one or two things to accomplish.  This will help keep you from getting overwhelmed.

-homemade cleaning products

-raw milk

raw cheese

-raw butter

-European style yogurt

-clean 15 and dirty dozen

-coconut oil frying

-plant a garden

-compost

-worm bins

-switch to steel cut (Irish) oats

-soak your grains

-make your own mayonnaise

-make your own salad dressing

-switch from microwave to toaster oven

cloth diapering

-homemade ice cream

-make your own toothpaste

OR

-buy a more natural toothpaste

-homemade banana chips (gonna try this:Slice banana into thin chips, dip in lemon juice, and spread on a cookie sheet. Bake for 2 hours @ 200 degrees and flip. Bake for another 1.5-2 hours or until crisp. Homemade banana chips!)
